10 reviews for Acer Nitro VG240Y Pbiip 23.8 Inches Full HD IPS Gaming Monitor with AMD Radeon FreeSync Technology

I bought the monitor for $160. If you wait for that sale (it happens fairly often) then you will get the most bang for your buck.-I have not noticed any motion blur while playing games like Valorant, Witcher 3, and Modern Warfare which is why I got the monitor in the first place.-I didn’t get a monitor with any dead pixels so that’s always nice as well.-The monitor does not come with speakers but it wasn’t a huge deal for me because I use headphones anyway.-I still haven’t figured out the best RGB values, brightness, etc. to get the most of the picture quality but the auto function does a good enough job for right now.Overall: I am satisfied with the monitor for what I payed for it. In the future I will likely buy a higher quality monitor but for those that don’t want to spend an arm an a leg on a set up then this monitor is a must buy.

I bought so many monitors in the past few months and returned them because of some defect they had and i did not know buying a monitor these days is hard to get a perfect screen with no bleed or dead pixels… My first monitor i bought wouldn’t even turn on. The second and third one had ghosting in the right corner of the screen and the forth one had a small ghosting spot on the top of the monitor.. Now this one the fifth one. So far i’ve spotted no glow nor dead pixels or ghosting but… I did find what looks like a small spec of dust in the top part of the screen. Its almost like a dead pixel that is see through. At first i thought it was dirt on the screen and it wouldnt wipe away… So now im debuting if i should return it or deal with it cause i dont wanna take a chance and get a worse one… Why is it so hard to get a perfect screen.Update *November 27 2019*Amazon sent me a new one and so far nothing wrong with the screen. No flaws no nothing. Is a good monitor if you can get without dead pixels or anything else.

I’ve gone through a few 144hz monitors lately, and this is the one that really stands out to me. The VA panel monitors suffered from smearing. The TN panels suffered from bad viewing angles, color and even banding issues. The response time of this monitor could be better, to more closely match a TN panel, but personally I had no problem with the response time.Oh, and it was also an excellent price at under $200. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a 1080p 144hz monitor.

2 Year Update: Monitor still works great, but has been retired for a higher end model. This monitor is great even though similar spec’d options are pretty much ubiquitous.1 Year Update: At the time of purchase this was the only 144hz IPS 1080p display under $200. It was a great purchase for $173, however you should consider the wide variety of monitors that are now available.Mine came with no dead pixels or imperfections, still works great.Pros:-144Hz IPS, colors and viewing angles are great-Backlighting on MY monitor is very consistent (will probably vary from monitor to monitor)-This display works with G-Sync through Display Port, worked very well in the Nvidia pendulum demo-VESA mounting 100mm x 100mm-Control nub for changing monitor settings-Subdued appearance barring the gamer-y monitor standCons:-Cruddy, basic stand-1ms response time will not work with Freesync/G-Sync (fine compromise at the price)-Motion blur is present, may bother some people but not me

Pros:Only $200 as of writing this.144hz refresh rate1ms response time8 pre configured monitor profilesCons:No built in speakerThis Acer Nitro 24 inch monitor is a great steal for its value and quality. Many monitors with these specs cost well into the $300 range, but Acer captures all the needs of the modern 1080p gamer for only $200. I love the 144hz refresh rate. I’ve only ever used 60hz monitors and let me say 144hz definitely makes a difference when it comes to gaming. I played GTA V on this monitor side by side my old 60hz monitor and the image quality was astoundingly more sleek and defined. The monitor also has an eco feature which dims the brightness and makes colors easier on the eyes as you game late into the night. Another reason I went with this monitor is because of the reputation Acer has for good quality monitors. Other gaming monitors competing in this price range try and offer the same specs but do so at the cost of quality. I’ve had this monitor two months now and my brother who bought a Scepter brand monitor is already noticing dead pixels. The only downside I can think of for this monitor is its lack of a built in speaker. For some people this may be a deal breaker, but you can honestly pick up $10 speakers on Amazon that would have the same quality audio as traditional built in speakers (which is what I did). With all this in mind I expect to keep this monitor in use for the next several years until 4k gaming becomes a more realistic option for the casual gamer. Definitely worth the money.

I had been looking to create a budget gaming setup without compromising too much in terms of performance or quality when I stumbled upon this monitor. Now, I’m not a hardcore gamer or anything so I don’t care too much about changing the image quality values on the monitor, so I can’t really speak on that. However, I can say that this monitor has a decent resolution, I like the overall look of it and the nearly nonexistent bezel around the screen, and I am more than happy with how it performs, as it gets the job done for what I need it to do.

Out of the box, the monitor is overly bright and the gamma is off a bit. Once you correct that, this monitor has insane image quality, contrast, brightness, and of course response time. I am able to overclock the monitor to 165hz in Windows display settings and confirm that it is indeed smoooooooth in games. For the money, I see absolutely no issues. Oh and I don’t see any dead/stuck pixels at all.I can’t comment on the stand because I’m using the VIVO V002 vesa mount.

I’ve had this monitor for almost 2 years now – still looks great and works great. I will admit, I definitely do not know the most about monitors (aside from numbers and such). I haven’t used the “best” monitors, so from an average Joe who likes to play games with a high refresh rate, this monitor has been great.

I received the monitor the problem I had is with the screen on the bottom left a piece of dust appears that can not be cleaned and not only that, the button set and off does not respond sometimes call the customer service center of acer and a lady said to me an idiot in a low voice, for asking her to repeat the question, is this how they choose the workers? In acer, I will never buy your brand first and last time I do it, learn that they don’t give me a solutionI update the review, after sending for repair in your center, they left it perfect and ready to use, the best monitor I have had, the only bad thing that comes without integrated bosins, otherwise excellent I recommend it you will not regret

I genuinely don’t see where these negative reviews are coming from. For the money I don’t think you’re gonna have an easy time finding a monitor this good. I use it for gaming mostly and the picture is clean, it runs max frames while maintaining decent graphics and the settings are really simple to navigate. If you’re looking for an IPS monitor that’ll work well and you don’t wanna empty your wallet, this is the one.
