My boy was in NiCU for a week, hospital was using wipes(water based) and some petroleum ointment, he got bad rashes in 4 days and then they started using desitin for next 3 days. When we brought him home, we stopped using desitin since it smells bad and hard to remove from his butt.I had ordered this before he was born, we don’t use wipes and instead we use cotton clothes in warm water and apply this ointment after every diaper change. It easily gets removed with damp cloth. It has been over 2 months and he is yet to have any diaper rash. So, I don’t know if it’s only this product or not using wipes (there are no gentle wipes) or combination of this ointment and wash clothes has kept my boy’s butt happy.Oh and we don’t use hands, we use silicone applicator and that has made our hands happy.

Since there might be other men out there that have a similar problem, Im going to share this: 4 some strange reason, all my life, whenever I become dry in my mid section for an extended period of time, I get these awful skin & bacteria infections in the mid area……No lotions, no powders, no Vaselines or anything else for that matter has ever worked for more than 6 hours of the day…..But then……By the grace of God……I discovered A&D ointment & nothing works better..Especially on a hot summer day at work when Im sweating everywhere but relentlessly in my mid section which seems to be the nesting grounds for bacteria whenever the sweat dries & leaves my skin dry……..Moral of the story??: God Bless A&D ointment…… & if its other men that have the same kind of problem that I have???? May I recommend A & D ointment…..5 Stars….

I swear by this stuff. I used it on my first daughter, who had sensitive skin, and I was sold on it. I have a baby in the nicu and when she got a rash, they called up a balm from the pharmacy that was EXACTLY like this stuff. I love this stuff so much better than desitin of any of the other products. It cleans off so much easier, and I’ve even used it on irritated, itchy skin for myself and it works INSTANTLY.There’s a reason I decided to be crazy and but this in a POUND jar. It’s worth it.

Trusty old A & D ointment always works for keeping my baby’s hind quarters protected against the massive amounts of waste she produces. As expected, it creates a protective barrier between her baby butt cheeks and her frequent pees and deuces. This size is much more economical, and lasts longer than the smaller size tubes. More importantly, with the giant A & D ointment tub, you get to use every last precious golden drop of the butt protection without the force of God to roll the tube.Sidenote: Don’t be afraid that there’s no seal on the tub. It’s all good and was most likely not opened or fussed with (usually the top of the ointment is smooth and level)….every time I have ordered it from many different stores this has been the case. The magic butt cream is ready to be used the second you open the lid.Heads up: Be careful opening the lid if it has been hot outside…..Magic butt ointment melts like crazy, then drips all down your hands and all over your table when you open the lid….and because it works well, it repels water. So busy out the Dawn if you want it off your hands or another surface!

After years of buying small tubes, we finally bought this big ol’ tub of A&D ointment and now it’s a once-yearly purchase instead of once-monthly. We have four children six and under and use this ointment on a whole variety of issues, from diaper rash to rug burn to scrapes and blisters. The ointment is definitely very thick and sticky and has a distinctive smell that’s sort of like vaseline mixed with lemon and a hint of cod liver oil. We don’t find it offensive, but if you’re sensitive to smells it would be worthwhile to get a small tube first and test it out. For keeping private areas free of chafing and rash, I haven’t found a product to beat it.

I switched to this after having my daughter use aquaphor. Her diaper rash completely disappeared with this stuff and done desitin Max strength. Make a strong paste with those two overnight and you won’t see any more diaper rash in the morning. I’m not a fan of the smell but it works and is cheaper than other brands!

I had bought this under the name of “First Aid” cream in the tubes and loved it, but this tub is a billion times cheaper. I think it’s the lanolin that gives this the advantage over other ointments like Aquaphor, etc. I have never bought a ‘cuticle’ cream that softened and shrank my cuticles as beautifully and instantly as this. Best lip balm ever. And FEET! Oh boy! I almost never have to pumice my feet now since I’ve discovered this. I have bought no fewer than dozens of “non-greasy foot creams” over the years and none of them really worked. Common denominator – non-greasy! Put a thin slip of this stuff over the offending areas, cotton socks, and you’ve truly got “baby feet”. I would never have believed that this level of soft and supple was possible for these aging feet. (When I lived in Hawaii and wore sandals without socks, I used to buy sanding blocks from hardware stores and STILL couldn’t keep up with the dryness. Trust me, I KNOW my foot products!!) So I have drawers full of lip balms, cuticle creams and foot creams that I can get rid of now. For all their different scents and textures and marketing, not one of them delivered the fountain of youth that A & D cream does. I do wish this wasn’t just marketed as “diaper cream” but hey-ho. It isn’t just the good value of buying this in the tub that will save me money. I can give up the false hope that chasing that fountain of youth in specific products (that ultimately disappoint) that gets so incredibly expensive.

Love A&D! I was introduced to this product in the hospital, after having my first child, over 10 years agoA&D can be used in place of petroleum jelly, on cuts and bruises, for chapped lips and dry skin. It is great for babies bottoms and private parts. I prefer this to Desitin or other zinc based lotions. I used on all four of my children, my husband, myself and elderly parents. We always have several tubs in the house. And the price can’t be beat! It is double at the drugstore or almoatanywhere else.

This is a real good product. It’s not something you would use on deeper cuts or puncture wounds (I use polysporin for that type of injury). I use this ointment primarily to sooth and heal a variety of scrapes and rashes that show up occasionally on the extremities. (Recently I used this product to heal a sore on my toe breaking in a new pair of shoes). In addition to the A+D, I also keep a tub of zinc oxide handy. Combining the two products works well healing the more persistent irritations. This is an effective ointment that has a pleasant, clean fresh scent. I will definitely purchase this product again. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been going to a flotation spa where you float/soak in epsom salt. The salt was wreaking havoc with tender membranes and little cuts and the petroleum jelly the spa was providing was simply not effective in creating a barrier, so I purchased this to take my own. Works perfectly – I don’t feel any sting whatsoever from the salt in tender areas.
