Very pleased with the rich sound from these small desk/shelf speakers. I’ve used larger, much more expensive sets on my desk, even with a subwoofer, that don’t equal the satisfying quality that these provide. Found with larger speakers I had to turn them up higher to get a full sound. These are pleasing even at low volumes, so I don’t disturb others nearby. The size is perfect for a desk.

I have these hooked up to my computer positioned right behind my monitor. I ended up needing a little help with hook up from my roommate though, so they weren’t entirely simple to get plugged in.The sound quality is amazing though, especially compared to the cheap 20 dollar speakers I had for 5 years.

I have never in my 36 years of life left a review for ANYTHING, but these speakers are freaking incredible. They took 8 seconds to set up, even though I know literally zilch about wires, connectivity, positivity/negativity, or any of that crap. I just plugged the audio input into the left (main) speaker, the other end into my iMac, put the copper-coloured wire into the red on both speakers, the clear wire into the black/negative on both speakers, plugged in the power, and BOOM. Crisp, clear, bass-y enough for my nineties-hiphop-conditioned desires (without being ridiculous or pissing off the neighbors) … AMAZING. You will not regret this one. Simple, HIGH quality sound, goes super loud without freaking out passersby outside your apartment window/wall. Awesome.

I did a ridiculous amount of research prior to purchasing these and was really unsure as to what I needed in a computer speaker. I recently upgraded to a new Mac Mini and with the current bluetooth issues, I was having a hard time using my headphones and wanted to upgrade my computer speakers.The most important things to me were sound, size, and connectivity. These came with all necessary cables and connected easily, fit well under my wall-mounted monitors, look great, and most of all they sound INCREDIBLE. There weren’t nearly as many reviews of these as some of the higher end Audioengine speakers, but I am glad that I took a chance on these!

I have done a thorough search before buying this item and decided on the A1 among two remaining contenters, audio engine a2+ and kanto yu2… The unit arrived in perfect condition, setup is incredibly easy, the form factor is just the right size, not occupying a huge desk space, nor too small and the gray disappears and matches with my desktop.Now, the sound quality… The Bluetooth connection woked very easy and seamlessly. I have a Samsung s21 and connected it with Apt X enabled. The sound quality is way higher than I expected. I am a Deezer user and I intently switched between normal and high resolution audio and i could clearly hear the difference (while not being an audiophile) on clarity and overall tonality… When it comes to connecting to your desktop. You need to be careful about the choice of cables… The unit comes with two sets of cables, one is RCA, the other one is single connection. The latter, when connected to a PC, activates only ONE speakers, you need to use a proper stereo cable if RCA connection i not compatible with your PC or connecting via headphone jack of your laptop…. You should also understand the capacity of your sound card, I was able to increase the resolution up to 32 bit/192k Hz via settings, the Windows default is rather pathetic and this makes a huge difference. This speaker does not come with optical/digital connection port, but I believe you can get either cables enabling this or a USB to analog audio converters with a portable DAC built in a dongle format.After these, I ran these speakers non-stop for 24 hours, even though I do not fully believe in the break-in period but, I am very happy with the sound. I also installed a Boom EQ app where I can fine tune the sound quality the way I want. I do not have any crackling sounds some reviews mentioned, nor any displeasure with the bass amount or quality, it is decent enough. You also need to use them slightly turned towards you lifted via the angled stands, it is a good investment…Having said all these, if what you are looking for is a sound quality of a PC speaker that gets closer to an audiophile quality with increbible bass and have the budget for it, you need to look into Vanatoo Transparent Zero. I have a separate set up for listening music, I would buy these in a heartbeat instead of the A1, if i wanted a much better sound quality and agree on a price way higher and a unit that is clearly bigger than the A1… happy shopping and happy listening….

Using as bedside speakers replacing Bose Revolve BT speaker. Nice to have some stereo separation even if so close to listening position. Not much space on bedside table so these speakers are perfect. Surprising bass for such small speakers. I could even hear bass through the wall in next room with low to moderate volume. Didn’t expect this. Using Bluetooth connection via iPod. A bit of trouble connecting first and 2nd time but now no issue at all. Attractive enough in grey with nice fit and finish but I would wish for white or pine. I would also wish for grills. I am worried I will mistakenly poke out tweeter or woofer. I added Audioengine stands for $29. I would take off one star for lack of grills and lack of different finish. But overall extremely satisfied with these speakers. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Sounds great and Bluetooth works seamlessly. I have a pair of their A5 speakers that I really love but they’re too big for my desktop. These A1’s were a perfect fit. Sound quality is amazing. I have it hooked up with their D1 DAC (dac is not necessary but works nicely). Sound stage is really good and they fill the room with impressive sound. Finish on them is really nice and they look aesthetically pleasing. Great buy for $199
