It does the trick. I added it to an old stereo in my workshop and it sounds great. The system was my main stereo from the ’90s with a Harmon Kardon Reciever and JBL speakers and subwoofer. I retired it to my shop about fifteen years ago. Now I can stream tunes effortlessly and I am no longer stuck with old CDs, a useless tape deck and VCR…A couple of notes that really worked for me:1) I have the stereo and this adapter on a master switch that I turn off when I leave the shop. This also decouples the adapter from my phone. I read some complaints that you have to get your phone to “forget” this device because it’s hard to unlink the bluetooth connection. I just turn it off, via a master power switch, and when I turn it back on, it automatically relinks to my phone’s bluetooth. This is great for me.2) This device is very small. I set it behind the receiver (so you can’t even see it) and it works great. I walked upstairs and it still worked flawlessly.3) It comes with a power supply and a cable to hook up to either a mini jack or RCA inputs. I appreciated being able to use it right out of the box without having to buy anything else. The only unknown for me is how long will this last. I have bought a few bluetooth receivers over the years with mixed results. Some never fail, some do. I have high hopes but only time will tell.

OMG Works perfect, I have it plugged into my vintage Magnavox console stereo and its never sounded better with I tunes playing direct to it from my phone or laptop !!! I even bought 2 one for me and my sons

Rather surprised, actually. Paired instantly with my iPhone 8. I’ll let you know how it pairs with my iPad and MacBook Pro, but I see no reason for any problems. Spotify files are seriously compressed, so I for one heard no difference between hard-cabling my iPhone into the AUX inputs on the front of my system, and connecting via Bluetooth. I have yet to try this on my main, genuinely audiophile, system, because even a hard-cabled MacBook Pro through an outboard DAC doesn’t sound all that hot there, certainly not compared to my solid CD player. Again, the source itself isn’t CD, much less HD-download, quality. But for a few bucks, this does provide a great option for background music or “music to do Spring Cleaning to.” Again, I’m not gonna use this as a source, then listen through my headphone amp and $800 headphones. In fact, I would not listen to Wagner using this. Really people, but for Ariana, why not? Without question, this adds versatility to your listening environment. FYI because this works, I ordered Emotiva Corp’s BTR-1, a supposedly more high-class version of this same functionality. Will it sound better? Probably not much, but at least I’ll feel high-class. Emotiva stuff has proved very good, and their device is only $80, as opposed to AudioEngine’s high-end item at $190. I recommend the produce listed here if you have a standard system and want to empower it. However, do be aware that if you have a decent sound system for your home theater, your smart TV will stream Spotify for you. This little marvel can’t hurt though, and presumably uses minimal power.

If this review helps in any way Positive or Negative Please hit HELPFUL!!! It will help encourage me to continue my real reviews of products I’ve purchased.Pros: $Priced under $25 / Synced fast to my phone/ Nice soft tone on speakers while syncing to let you know BT is discoverable (Note if you don’t want then just synch device before turning on your speaker system/ Small/ Blue light is a nice touch/ Comes with cable and power adapterCons: BT is not new standard (That said I think new standard was designed for more than just audio and since this is purely audio system does not appear to be much of a limitation), Cable provided works but if you want high end sound you need better connectors (will cost you maybe $10 to $20 on up depending on how high quality connectors you want to get for hoking to this system), I can understand the power adapter, but since it is 5 volts and low amperage I think a USB cord option would be nice. Lastly no battery powered option although it would not be hard to rig up to a power bank.Okay… I’ve had this a day now and as you can guess I love this device. The range for the Bluetooth is awesome in that I can bring my phone all over the house and not loose BT connection to my stereo. Only thing I don’t like about writing a review like this is that it also makes a good reason to raise the price.. Okay I guess with that said if the price gets above $27 for this great device I would look at my other options if I were to get some for friends.UPDATE: 9/27/2018 Yes there was a lot of background noise at the beginning of my review as my neighbor is having an underground pool installed in his yard; it was not noise from this device.Thank you for reading my review:Again Please give this review a thumbs up. It is real. I’ve been on Amazon as a customer for over twenty years. I don’t get compensated for my reviews. (Not that I wouldn’t like to be.) I pay for Amazon Prime so I get any of the perks that come with my Prime membership.

Replaced my old Logitech (which stopped connecting after awhile) with this one. It is smaller, and looks nicer. No hassle connection, great sound. Others have noted that this unit will connect to your device as soon as it is turned on, which could be a problem if you intend to use it with various devices (sharing with friends etc.), but for my purposes, I’m happy that it does connect itself, and I don’t have to go into settings each time to turn it on, like I did with the Logitech. I have it plugged into my receiver, so it turns on and off with the receiver. So, for me this is a plus. You should seriously consider the ramifications of this because it does not have an on/off switch, and unless you have it connected as I do, you will have to physically unplug it to keep it from connecting.

Original Review:It took a few attempts to add the device to my computer, but once it connected correctly, it keeps the connection. When it works, it is great. I can tell the bit rate difference up to 320kbps. More than that, I cannot really tell the difference, but even if my computer was directly wire connected, I cannot tell it either, so it passed my sound quality expectation. My problem is, the unit seems very receptive from outside noise source. It sometimes adds quite annoying buzz or sound rendering quality noticeably degrade. I am trying to find the cause, but so far I cannot, and I believe it should have been shielded better at the first place as a music device, so I can only give 1 star at this moment.Update: 5/16/2017The seller sent me a replacement after reading my first review. The noise problem doesn’t happen on the replacement unit. Also, the first unit cannot switch music source automatically when either source is muted (I had to manually press the button) but this works perfectly. I’m pretty happy with the replacement, thus I updated the review points respectively 5 stars.

Finally, a Bluetooth device that stays on until I actually turn it off. Makes a great tool for breathing new life into old equipment. Hooked this up to a compact Onkyo amp I loved back in the day but had become basically obsolete. Not anymore! Plugged the devices power supply into the switched outlet of the amp and now whenever I want my pc audio to play through a “real” system I just turn on the amp like old times and the Floyd never sounded so good.Unit is about 40 feet and a couple rooms/walls from pc and it functions just fine. Best of all when I turn off the amp the device is also off so my pc reverts to the default audio output device.I had tried everything under the sun, including numerous Bluetooth speaker set ups, but nothing matches the versatility to run old, but high power/quality, equipment and speakers like this unit does. (Pulled unit out from under amp for pic however it is usually under amp and gives off just a slight blue glow. Great look)

I wanted a means of listening to music from both my iPhone (pandora, etc.) and an echo dot (via Amazon Music) through a set of speakers. I purchased this product and it was easy to set up (using RCA connectors) and pair with both devices (this was during September 2016). This month (January 2017) it died – couldn’t access it from either the echo or phone. I contacted the vendor via email through amazon and was pleasantly surprised with a reply within 24 hours. The item was under warrantee and they quickly sent a replacement. The new one was installed quickly and everything is running well.I was impressed with both the product and the support, and would recommend it. As for the failure, stuff happens… the important point is how the vendor responds.

For the price of a few morning brews, this little gizmo complemented perfectly my vintage Toshiba Aurex System 15 (since 1983).The fact that everything is included in the set, makes this BT adapter a no-brainer purchase for people with old (but expensive) hi-fi systems to be able to play the latest streaming audio formats (mostly,16 or 24-bit FLAC) via a Hi-Res music player.Like another reviewer’s experience, the BT signal is sometimes too strong that I have to unplug the unit’s power supply in order to use another AV receiver (or, any gadget) with built-in BT inside the house. Not a hassle at all for me as this sits just beside my small hi-fi system. Not to mention the fact that the set’s power supply (universal voltage , too — 110-240 V) cable is long enough so that you can position this little gem just anywhere around your music system. But I like the unit’s strong BT signal — it provides uninterrupted digital music pumping to my nice little system. Pure joy!!!I hope that it would last until a new BT standard comes around that would force me to get a new one.For now, I’m very, very satisfied how this BT adapter nicely matched my vintage micro hi-fi system — and, yes, a nice Hi-Res audio player.
