these are the best jeans ever, especially for someone who grew up as a teen in the 1960s. these are akin to slimmer fit version of 501s that had a zipper. most of us in middle school wore these until ’68 and later when bells and boot cut took over.alas, i’m a product of my formative years so while i wear the levi slim bootcut with boots, i wear these for all other wear with either dressy shoes, or super casual, depending on the denim wash you get, these can take you to an expensive dining evening, or playing basketball. i have 2 pair that cover that range with different washes.i will say the waist size varies up to almost an inch at times, but that doesn’t really matter. the last pair i got came a bit tighter, but these stretch so after a few wearings they stretched out to perfect. this pair came at about the waist size of my other pair AFTER it stretched, which is fine. they both are the same size. my other pair has a lighter/more worn wash, these are dark with almost no wash to them, for dressing up. they aren’t ‘skinny’ jeans, but just tapered along those mid 1960s lines so they fit low on the waist and slim in the hips and legs, but aren’t tight from the knees down, just a nice taper.this model, 513, is not usually made visible on the levi website, and you have to know about them or you won’t really find them, but after 501s they are the iconic style of the 1960s…they are technically called ‘slim straight fit’, which is what they are. straight fit, just a bit lower waisted and slimmer in fit.best of the best. as said, waist fit is not horribly critical as long as you get close. i’d get them snug as they do stretch out to fit. however, i’ve found that like all clothes these days, maybe it’s ego gratification for customers, but what used to be a 33 waist is now a 32. in all other jeans or pants i take a 33 waist. i took a 32 in junior high. i bought these in 32 waist…i think they are just stroking my ego with that. but if it helps you pick your right size, i share it.

I love the 513 slim straight cut. They don’t bag between my legs and they are appropriately tight around my legs without being too tight. I don’t like pants with a bunch of extra fabric collecting around my ankles and between my legs. These fit nice without appearing too tight . I can move around great in these . Climbing on and off my bike is easy. I like tighter than ‘normal’ fitting jeans but I don’t like the ‘skinny’ jean look. This is exactly right for me. Snug but not tight looking and no extra fabric getting in my way (I move around a lot in these) I hate when jeans restrict your movement. I am athletic but not jacked and I am slim but not skinny. These jeans fit great. I buy this cut of jeans in many different colors.

Yup, I’m a winner, these jeans are perfect for me, fit, quality, color, and price. Over many decades I’ve tried different brands and even gave up wearing jeans for a time. At 6′ 1″ and 200 lbs. all muscle…I wish…these fit me perfect in 34/32. Not a fan of the worn distressed look and at my age I’m worn and distressed enough. Slim cut but not too slim, no baggy seat and enough stretch to be comfortable in a mid weight denim that to me looks and feels just right.

I am a bigger guy but wanted a pair of jeans that fit a little tighter but not form-fitting…trying to stay with the times while still remembering my age..511’s were too tight in the thigh and calf area but the 513’s were close enough to just right for me. Fit a little tighter in the thigh/butt which is good for me because I have…picture a big pancake in a wide, shallow bowl and you can imagine what my rear end looks like. The thighs had a bit more room that the 511’s, which was nice, and the calf/ankle area was roomy but still gave it that slim look (my calves are meaty). I feel like the 513’s were meant for the more shaply that want that fitted look without being too tight in all the wrong places. Should also mention I always went with the “stretch” material option.

Levi’s have been my brand of choice for jeans for over 17 years now. When I was younger and skinnier, I wore the 501s and the 511s.After discovering good beer which resulted in unexpected stomach weight, I found that the 501s and the 511s were no longer my preferred jeans.Since then, I discovered the 513s.The 513 Stretch Slim does a few things for me:-It has a slimmer pant leg without being too tight in the thigh or calf (which I experienced with other “slim” fit jeans).-It sits below slightly below the waist, which is comfortable. But it is not baggy. What would I change? Not much.- I am not a fan of the bootcut. With that said, it does give the jeans a nice look for those occasions where you want to be casual but not informal. It goes well with high top shoes and boots, but feels awkward with my puma gym-shoes. I wear a 33×30, so I am not in a position to go down a size on the length. If I wanted a pair that looked better with casual sneakers then I would consider going down a size in length.- The material is more porous than the non-stretch Levi’s. As a result, it needs to be washed more frequently.

My husband typically wears a 32/30. He has a muscular butt and thighs. It tends to be hard to find pants that fit him well and still look somewhat stylish. This was the 5th pair of jeans I ordered for him to try, and the 3rd pair of Levis. We finally found a winner.I wasn’t sure what type of Levis to order as he’s never worn them before. The 514 style fit well in the waist and thighs, but were far took wide in the calves and ankles. They also seem to be an inch or two too long. They almost looked bootcut and gave a sloppy appearance. They might be better on someone tall though. Then he tried the 511 cut. They fit through the waist and looked much better in the calves and ankles, but the thighs were skin tight. So that pair had to go back too. These would be better on someone very slim. The 513 pair blends the other two styles. The top half fit very similar to the 514 and the bottom a bit more tapered and nearly like the 511. They do seem to run about an inch long, but aren’t available in a shorter length. These by far were the best pair and worth keeping.

These are the best fitting and they are longer lasting than 501’s. 501’s do not have any stretch and the 513 has some stretch so when sitting they give a little in the crotch so they don’t rip–the 501’s tend to rip at the front seam under the zipper too quickly because there is NO give and when worn and the wearer tries to squat or bend it binds and the material rips. The 513 jeans have just the right amount of stretch for comfort and give when the wearer squats or bends. Also, the give is good so there is not a chance for a blood clot or other poor circulation to occur during a long trip. This is a GREAT HEALTH and SAFETY issue resolved with the 513 Levi Jeans.THANK YOU, Levi for making the adjustment so on long trips the circulation remains good.

I tried several Levi’s fits. I liked the 513 the best but also kept the 511. It’s a little loose in the waist. I tried the 31 which fit better in the waist but was too tight when sitting down. I wish there was a “slim tailored” variant so the legs could be a littler slimmer but this works. This particular fabric did not have as much stretch as the 511 “Bee Eye” color that I tried.Garment Measurement Comparisons*:502 Regular Tapered – Crying Sky StretchSize: 32x30Hip (-7″ below top): 40″Thigh (-1″ below crotch): 23.5″Knee (+2″ above middle of inseam): 17″Opening: 15″511 Slim – Bee Eye StretchSize: 32x30Hip (-7″ below top): 39.5″Thigh (-1″ below crotch): 22.5″Knee (+2″ above middle of inseam): 16″Opening: 14.5″513 Slim Straight – Bowman Lake StretchSize: 32x30Hip (-7″ below top): 40.75″Thigh (-1″ below crotch): 22.5″Knee (+2″ above middle of inseam): 17″Opening: 15.5″My body measurements:Waist: 33″Hip (-7″): 37″Thigh (-3″ below crotch): 21.5″Knee (on bone): 16″Calves (widest): 15.25″Opening (above ankle): 9.25″* Levis are known for having inconsistent sizing. Part of this is because different colors have different fabrics and are made in different parts of the world. You’re milage may vary.

These are the best jeans in the world in my opinion for the following reasons:1. the elastic or whatever it is that makes them stretch (and still feel like denim). It’s amazing. When I gain a bunch of weight, it gets tough to buy waist sizes in jeans that aren’t super baggy for me. These clear it up. My weight jumps around a lot and I’ve been ordering these jeans (and only these jeans) for like 6 or 7 years now. They stretch with me. If you lose weight, shrink them down by washing.2. they look like normal jeans. Not skinny jeans (I have nothing against them, I would just look like a dork. Or like more of a dork), not super baggy jeans. Just straight up normal jeans. All I ever wanted in life was to be a guy with normal jeans. And now I am.I even cuff them and they look fine.3. they last. This is where it gets gross for normal people. I look back through my Amazon orders and I order a new pair every year/year and a half maybe. That might not seem like a long time for a good pair of jeans…but hear me out: I only own one pair of jeans at a time…and I pretty much refuse to wash them.I told you I was gross.
