I don’t use the fingerprint I use the facial and pin number. Screen qualify is great, but the battery life goes down fast when browsing YouTube

They say “you get for you pay for” and that almost describes Nokia’s 1.4. Yes, it’s pretty basic in specs, but it’s even more basic in price. The huge battery’s laudable and I’ve gotten nearly four days from mine in general use (I am not a gamer on phones and I don’t stream video on anything smaller than 65 inches) but as a phone it’s pretty good when you bear in mind how little it cost. It’s a bit of a beast, so when it’s in my shirt pocket I walk at an angle and my wife thinks it’s beginning to stretch the seam at the bottom of the pocket but for some people that’s not major issue. Build quality is good and it does not feel excessively plasticky. The cameras are good but not great but again at this price they are hard to complain about and video playback quality is damned good. The 1.4 runs on Android 10 Go which helps the performance of the phone, especially with the Google ‘Go’ apps included. On the down side, there’s no NFC so forget about using Google Pay with it and charging – through a USB micro connector – is glacially slow. Most people who’ve been using better/faster/more expensive phones may look down at the 1.4 rather in the way a longtime BMW owner might look upon a 1989 Isuzu I-Mark in askance. This is to be expected I suppose but as an entry-level phone it’s pretty hard to beat. For what it’s worth, mine is used as an second phone and I have my company’s SIM card in it (yes, they know) so it forwards all work calls to my main handset, an LG G7 that’s gonna be replaced later this year. Not with a 1.4, but Nokia’s fascinating entry phone has pointed me to look at the 5G members of their product lineup for the G7’s replacement. Perhaps Nokia’s pricier models will do as well as the 1.4 in the realm of “getting what you pay for”.
