Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience purchasing this monitor. I plugged in the monitor and connected it with the type c to type c for monitor to laptop connection and the USB Type C cable for power. I could not get the monitor to stay on for more than 3 seconds. All that I could accomplish is that the monitor turns on, says “no signal”, then promptly goes into “power saving mode” and shuts down. I even try to hit menu while I see the “no signal” message to see if I can do anything else with the monitor, no go. The customer service tried to help, but the language barrier was an issue. They kept trying to help the “connection” to computer – which I probably could have figured out if the monitor would have stayed on longer than 3 seconds. I returned this monitor.2 weeks later, Newsoul wanted to make sure that I was a satisfied customer, so they sent me another monitor to test out. After reading a few other reviews to see how I could make this work, I realized that the type C to type C could only work for power, not for display. So, I needed to use the HDMI cable, however my computer only has a displayport, no HDMI. After picking up an HDMI to display port adapter, my monitor was working as described. Color is great. I am running Windows 7, the only difficulty is that when moving the mouse from my laptop monitor to the Newsoul display, I have to go from the bottom right corner to the top left corner of the extended monitor. It took some getting use to, but still manageable. My son hooked it up to his MacBook Pro and did not have this issue, he was able to move from side to side, no problem.

My work from home set up I’ve attempted to make as portable and minimalist as possible so that I can break it down and hide it (or move easily to another spot). I didn’t want a monitor sitting on my kitchen tables 24-7 so here I am.I had a bit of a hiccup getting the monitor to work at first but a reboot of my laptop fixed it. I’m running it on the USB-C route which is great. The only thing plugged into the wall is the laptop.The screen quality is fine for excel and PowerPoint. I use it quite often when presenting via Zoom or Teams where a second monitor is needed so you can present and see notes.The quality and build seem good. All in all a good package. We will see how the longevity is. Fingers crossed.I will add that I spent a ton of time trying to figure out a good way to mount it to my desk on an arm – but have it in a mount that would offer a quick release so I could move my setup to another room when needed. I bought the “AboveTEK Tablet Wall Mount” which has worked great. The grip on the monitor is pretty tight but it fits, feels safe, and doesn’t seem to be damaging the monitor.

I initially bought NewSoul 15.6″ USB-C portable monitor as I had seen a work partner use it. I wanted to use it as a primary monitor with a spare PC. My connectivity solution was an HDMI to USB type C adapter.NewSoul 15.6″ Portable monitor was a slam dunk to this problem. In all fairness I gave this 5 stars for “Gaming” even though I haven’t used it it for that.I’m a field engineer and I needed a mobile monitor for my laptop but also something I could use with SoC devices like a raspberry pi that had an HDMI out and that this had multiple different inputs like HDMI, USB-C, etc.I’ve used this to configure not only multiple raspberry pi clusters but also standalone raspberry pi’s. Note for the RPi 4 you’ll need the micro-HDMI dongle sold seperately but I had one in my cord case so I was able to work around it.The leather case makes it nice to use during trade shows and during customer presentations. It’s especially light enought to pack up and throw in a backpack on a long flight. Just a few weeks ago I needed to work on a rpi docker cluster in flight so it would be ready to go when I landed. I booted this up using a battery bank (which also powered the pi cluster) configured it. booted it back down, and had a nice time watching a movie for the rest of the flight.Thank you for a great product. I have a brand name product that only does video over USB and it’s a pain in the bu## do to the USB bus being saturated with more than 1 other device (I typically have a USB wireless mouse, multiple USB drives, and other devices connected to my laptop at the same time) so this is nice that It doesn’t saturate the USB bus but I haven’t tested the USB-C interface yet as I don’t have the need for it quite yet. However, it’ll be nice to have once I do need it.Cheers lads!

I did some browsing around the web for something that will help me out when i work from home. I hate Laptops for the reason that the screens are too small to really be portable so i’ve opted for a 15″ spectre. but it was still too small for me to use for work. I NEED two screens.This is when I started looking around. there are others that are cheaper, but I noticed the reviews and saw a coupon for $30 so this brought it down to roughly the cost of others. When i read HDR i knew i wanted this one for the price and let me tell you, the colors are GREAT! I love this external display! and I’ve only got one cable attached to it (one USB C from my laptop to the monitors video input).Here are my reasons:> Roughly the thickness of 1.3 Ipads (still pretty slim in my opinion)> Comes with cables– USB C to USB C, USB A to C, HDMI Cable (if you need a mini HDMI you need to buy the conversion, or if you need a mini display port), Power brick for extra power (if your USB C does not provide enough).> Comes with screen protector> Comes with a really nice faux leather cover> Built with metal enclosure (Feels super sturdy, but also pretty light)Cons: took some playing around to find which was the input needed to only need one cable may seem obvious, but plug in the USB C (video output from your laptop) to the USB C (video input, the one under the Aux port / above the Mini Display port).and guessing the display adjustment buttons. THATS IT!I Love this display and will look forward to continuous use from both this laptop, and I can see us using this for our video games on the go (Nintendo switch)

I didn’t think this would be as nice for what I paid. I have this monitor connected to my LG Gram 17 with just the USB-C connection (no additional power) and it’s working great. The display is bright and crisp. The bezel is very thin and the monitor itself is very thin. This easily fits in my bag with my laptop.And for people who really want to geek out, I also have the AOC USB monitor (1920×1080 – 15.6″). If I had to choose, I’d pick the Newsoul monitor but guess what? They BOTH work at the same time. As I write this, the Newsoul monitor is an additional left hand monitor and the AOC is working off a USB port on the right hand side. This is AWESOME? I can now remote into my Office PC (which is also connected to three monitors) and I can see all three monitors!If you want a no compromise solution for getting work done when you’re out of the office, the Newsoul monitor will be tough to beat. You’ll need to make sure your USB-C connection supports it if you don’t want to carry an extra adapter – I haven’t even opened the power adapter or the HDMI cables – I don’t need them. Rest assured though, they are included so this monitor can be configure with just about any laptop you hook it up to.Just for kicks, I did also hook the monitor via USB-C cable up to my phone (Galaxy 10+). You get an mirror version of your phone on the monitor. Ideally I’d like to use the monitor in it’s full dimensions and use the phone as the “PC”. Still a work in progress. If I can accomplish that, I could conceivably dump the Laptop. My ideal setup would be the phone, the monitor and a bluetooth keyboard. If anyone out there has this figured out, I’d like to hear from you.UPDATE: Connect the power adapter with the phone and Samsung will boot the DEX operating system. A very windows like experience with just your phone and this monitor. I added a LOGI Logitech keyboard for the mouse and keyboard, downloaded the DEX optimized Microsoft applications and even remote into my desktop PC. I’m very close to not needing a laptop at all! This monitor is an eye opener!

This is a great second monitor for my 15″ laptop. It is light enough that I put it in my backpack for business trips.Easy to plug into your existing laptop for power and video. I don’t use the wall plug in most cases.I like that I can adjust the brightness to match my laptop level.The cover/stand that comes with it works great. I haven’t found it to be unstable on a desktop. I usually run my cables through it to my laptop. I prefer to use it on the right side of my laptop and that works.Several things to know.If you are getting the 3-4 second display of power after powering on, then it means you have no video signal. You have two broad options. If you have a Thunderbolt 3/4 Type USB-C (such as on a MAC or specially equipped Windows laptops) you can use a single USB-C to USB-C connection to both power and provide video. But if not. use the USB-C port for power and the included HDMI for video. So that means you need both a USB-C and HDMI on your non-Thunderbolt equipped laptop.Fortunately they include an HDMI to HDMI and USB-C to USBC for both situations. There is also an external power device if you want to power the monitor from the wall.Highly recommended if you love dual monitors!

This Newsoul portable monitor has a bright and colorful display, which shows crisp text and imagery. It has a couple of unique features like Freesync and Overdrive (OD) meant for gamers. I was surprised with the HDR option, which is a benefit to designers and gamers alike.The power delivery (PD) port can be powered by the included USB charger, or for those who hates carrying extra things like me can just plug it into the computer’s USB port. With this setup, I was able to use the monitor with my laptop using only the USB A to C (PD port) and HDMI cables (both included). At around 2 lbs, it’s a good companion to my laptop.To make it truly portable, my android phone was able to power the monitor with the USB C to C cable alone, just by plugging it into the 2nd USB C (Type-C) port for display and power. It was a quick and easy way to watching movies on the go, and the sound was decent and loud enough for this purpose.There are five physical buttons on the left side of the monitor, and their functions are:1. Power on/off2. Volume menu & Up within menu3. Brightness menu & Down within menu4. Settings menu & Select within menu5. Display input & Back within menu
