SOUNDBAR HW-A550 (2021) GETS 5 STARS. SAMSUNG SUPPORT GETS 0 STARS. 2021 VERSION COMES WITH ONE SHEET OF PAPER WITH INSUFFICIENT INSTRUCTIONS AND NO INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAIRING WITH SAMSUNG TV REMOTE OR XFINITY REMOTE. NO ONLINE INSTRUCTION EITHER. TELEPHONE CONTACT WAS WITH INEPT SAMSUNG EMPLOYEE WHO AFTER 35 MINUTES SAID THE NEW A550 CANNOT BE PAIRED WITH A SAMSUNG TV REMOTE. REFUSED TO TRANSFER ME TO A SUPERVISOR. SAME RESULT AFTER 40 MINUTE CHAT. BOTH WERE INEPT AND WRONG.SOLUTION IS IN ONLINE “SAMSUNG HW-A550 FULL MANUAL” PAGE 26 WHICH CAN BE DIFFICULT TO FIND.1. TURN OFF THE SOUNDBAR2. PUSH WOOFER BUTTON UP AND HOLD FOR 5 SECS3. USE OF REMOTE WILL CHANGE SEQUENTIALLY FROM TV REMOTE OFF / TV REMOTE ON / THIRD PARTY REMOTE ON

If you are not tech savvy this soundbar may frustrate you. First thing you are going to want to do is get it connected. After that you will need to figure out how to set the soundbar for optical or connect with bluetooth. Bluetooth is horrible you want to go with digital optical. The sound bar has a small LED panel which you can toggle through the very short menu to adjust the bass, treble, and audio delay. I put my delay on 0 and the sound matches with the persons mouth as they talk so that was easy. On your tv, I have a 65″ Crystal UHD 4k curved Samsung, you will want to go into settings then sound then set the output to optical and you will also want to set HD output to 16bit instead of automatic and you can adjust the color of the tv and I have mine set to warm 2 and bumped up sharpness and contrast. I also set video to dynamic which makes the colors really pop and I kept the sound set at standard instead of dynamic or game. Now watching a movie in my living room is like watching a movie at the movie theater.People giving the soundbar a low review probably had technical difficulties as in they don’t know how to navigate the settings.

My wife wanted a sound bar.Unpackaging was easy. I used the optical cable. I needed to do some research online on how to get it to work with the Verizon FiOS One set top box.But opening up the &**$# remote to put the batteries in was horrendous. I tried for about 20 minutes. My wife tried for 20 minutes. I checked YouTube. (there are quite a few videos on how to open the remote) I ended up calling Samsung. She suggested that I go to Best Buy and maybe they could get it open. But she would send me another one. But after breaking fingernails and scraping the dickens out of it using a butter knife I got it open and put the batteries in.But now it is up and running. The sound is terrific. And most importantly the wife is happy.

The sound quality is much better than I was expecting for the price on the A450. It sounds even better when you throw out the toslink cable it came with for a nice one (I went with Cable Matters).Setup was a breeze. All I did was plug everything in and turn it on. It synched up with my Samsung TV without any issues at all.Considering there are plenty of sound bars that cost 10x what I paid for this one, it’s a fantastic value.Only problem I had was if my TV or streaming device has audio set to “automatic” or “best”, it would skip and sometimes emit what sounds like a repeating laser blaster sound effect. After manually adjusting sound settings to “Dolby digital”, everything worked perfectly.

Sound Quality is excellent connected to my Samsung 65in Curved TV Bluetooth No Problem and does not have a problem staying connected. When connected to my phone quality is okay. But overall I would recommend this or something a bit higher depending on how loud you want it

I was annoyed at having a nice 2020 Samsung TV yet still having to watch with the remote in hand to change the volume for talking or action scenes. Research told me I needed to make sure there was a dedicated center channel speaker in my sound bar choice. Easy to install out of the box. I already had an HDMI cable, they do not include one. I am using the ‘standard’ sound type and it’s the perfect balance. Subwoofer is tucked in a corner at the opposite end of the room, dialed down to 1 (of 1-6 levels). It’s exactly what was needed to really enjoy the tv. It feels cinematic and full without all the rumble and thumping that feels over the top for regular viewing. There’s tons of power left unused and I may give it a workout for a big movie experience in the future, but for now it’s perfect for tv shows or sports. It comes with a nice remote but once it was set up I just used my existing Samsung tv remote which turns it all on along with the tv and controls the volume like normal.

More power than some, and a easy connect for our new Samsung TV. Flexible connection methods. (We had an LG Sound Bar — tied to an LG TV. We moved the LG TV to another room and couldn’t make it work with the SamSung TV — using bluetooth, optical connector, or HDMI cable. (It’s now back with the LG TV and it works beautifully there.)With the wireless speaker at the rear of the room, it gives great sound when watching movies or sports.(Interestingly enough, I found that the HW-A450 was newer and a bit more advanced in design than the similar HW-T450 model, and cheaper, too! We’re happy!

Connected to my TV using an optical cable (one is provided but I already had one). Had the system working within a few minutes. Very good sound with a variety of options. I bought it on sale for a great price.Negative : The directions are almost worthless; I’m technical but if your not watch a youtube video to save yourself a lot of frustration or worse yet believe parts are not working which actually are if you know how to use them.UPDATE: So I fell victim to my own words of caution that the instructions are worthless. Turns out that there are multiple sound adjustments and I found combinations that make it a great sounding system. Also the sound does go higher than 10 (not sure why it got stuck on 10 when I first set it up) and at level 18 shook the entire house. Updating to 5 stars.

I always thought soundbars seemed kinda gimmicky and not worth the added cost, but after being at someone’s house who had one I reconsidered my position. Not in a rush and not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars, I have been casually checking them out for the past few months. When this one came up on sale, I jumped at the purchase. Easy to set up and paired perfectly with my Samsung television, giving it the extra “oomph!” I was hoping for. I appreciate being able to control the sub levels as well when I don’t want to annoy neighbors late at night. Definitely recommend!

I’m in love with these speakers. They were a tremendous upgrade from the TV’s speakers. Crisp dialogue, bass that can shake your couch when its turned up to the max (just like the theaters). Music sounds great with them.Performed a sound test where I turned the soundbar up to 100 (max volume) and it output a solid 103 decibels (I used ear protection). For reference a motorcycle is about 100 dB.You can change the audio delay on the fly using the remote that comes with the system, and if you plug the soundbar into an hdmi arc port the volume will change with any other remote you normally use.Overall solid purchase, Ill never be able to go back to TV speakers again.
