I couldn’t believe the price on these switches, they seemed to cheap to work well. I read the reviews and couldn’t find a reason not to purchase them. When the switches arrived I busted out my magnifying glass to read the extremely small print on the installation instructions. The instructions (and the company website) show that the Ethernet cable from the ISP router should be connected in port 5 on the 5 port switch and 8 on the 8 port switch. I bought one of each and connected them according to the directions. I was so excited to see if my mbs would match what I was getting when plugged directly into the ISP router. Nope. 500 + mbs when wired directly, 98 mbs when connected through the switch. I swapped cables back and forth to do more testing. I searched online for explanations. I went to the company website looking for support but could not find anything other than what was provided on the tiny installation documentation. Then I found a YouTube video of an unboxing of this switch from Digital David. He explained how the switch worked and how nice it looked. He didn’t go into much detail about installing but on the second time watching it I paused and looked at his switch. He had the ISP Ethernet cable connected to port 1 rather than port 5. That was all I needed. I ran to the switch, swapped the cables to reflect what I had seen in the video and BAM! My speeds through the switch were the same as when connected directly to the router. I pay Frontier for 500 mbs up and down and you can see by the pics that’s exactly what I’m getting and then some! So if you order this don’t follow the directions, plug that router cable into port 1 and let her rip. How they can offer this so inexpensively is beyond my comprehension. I bought these two switches with my own money and was not given anything for writing this review. That’s how impressed I am! What are you waiting for? Toss a couple of these in your basket NOW!

Very compact switch, no larger than a deck of cards. If you want simple plug and play, without setup, this unit has you covered. It is passively cooled, so no worries about any fan noise. The bottom of the unit does have mounting points, they are a bit small, if you wish you wall mount it.I’ve performed a few speed tests using popular SpeedTest website which I regrettably did not save the results. I did notice a slight internet bandwidth speed decrease based on the results while connected to this switch. One test was with the computer directly connected to my Orbi router. Also tested while connected with an older Netgear switch. The Netgear switch is several years old but did have higher speed results in all tests than this unit.I regrettably did not attempt to do any local area file transfers while I was doing my testing. This means I can’t say if file transfer speeds are effected. I’m unable to test this because it’s already in place within my network. It’s also connected to devices that only stream media and never file transfer.

It is a Gb switch like all the others out there. With the sale thing going on, it was even less than posted. I could not refuse. I pulled my 5 port and set aside. It plays well with my 16 and 24 port unmanaged switches too.

I’ve been running this switch for about 3-4 weeks now, and it works as expected! Running via 1GB Ethernet vs. 750MB WiFi and not needing to content with wireless interference and channel congestion improved my network performance 300%

Received it and I read the instructions and everything, it’s literally plug and play but sometimes you don’t know what you’re coming across so it’s good to double check. A guy in the review section said he watched a video on some guy going in depth with this specific Splitter, yada yada yada, now what caught my attention was that he mentioned he’d been playing around connecting the main ethernet cord coming from the router into different ports on the TENDA splitter to try and get better results. The guy in the reviews mentioned that the best place to connect the main ethernet to was to the 1st connection, in the manual it mentions specifically that it should go into the 5th one. I just want to let people know that the manual is right, and I did speed tests 3 for each with main cable swapped into 1st and 5th place for a total of 6 tests. Your best bet is to put the main ethernet coming from your router into the 5th one like the manual mentions(pictures check out). The first one is the main ethernet cable from the router going into fifth. The second one is the main ethernet cable from the router going into the first connection in the TENDA. Do the math.

Amazing and very fast speeds for all outputs… my Apple TV connected to it Speedtest app says 375mbs so I don’t know why some peeps say this doesn’t support ultra fast speeds.Only gripe is you must connect input Ethernet from router to certain jack (says in instruction booklet) or will not perform well! That jack should be different color and labeled “In”. No idea why they don’t do this to make it dummy-proof!(Also Amazon- why is “wifi signal” a thing to rate this for when it is a wired device!?!?)

Just received this Tenda Model : SG108 Switch today – was bit skeptical due to quite a few people leaving neg review and claimed that the switch is NOT a GIG switch. But made the purchse for $17.99 anyway. Really compact switch, will fit in tight space if you have and it’s not bad looking either. Readable port numbers, LED on top stating what port is connected. So far I have hooked up with 3 intel quad core PC and a Mac Book Pro – They are all connected with 1GBPS speed. I have attached the pictures to review. Also ran speed test from my Router connected to Switch port connected to the PC – and receiving over 200 Mbps speed which before i was not getting with the 10/100 Netgear(would top off at 85 Mbps). I currently have xfinity wth upto 300 Mbps Service so getting a pretty decent speed. Tested all the ports – all outputs 1 GIG connection; hooked up my Media server on one of the port and have no issues streaming HD content from the media servers to any other PCs within my network. Absolutely no buffering or wait time if i fast forward/rewind any content; almost instant. So pretty happy with spending $18 buks. Only Time will tell how long this switch will last, but for now, it’s defintely a buy.

This is the best value switch you can get. I got this to split a cable coming to my upstairs and get the same signal across all my devices connected to the switch as I got with one Ethernet. Definitely recommended for serious tech users looking for a good value switch. (Be sure to plug cable from router into port 5 for best performance).

I bought two of the Tenda 8-Port gigabit switches to upgrade the network in my house. I had an old Ethernet switch that maxed out at 100 mbs. Comcast now gives us 200 mbs and that is the reading when I perform a SpeedTest at the cable modem. I have a mesh WiFi system with 3 routers but the last router in the chain was closer to 50 mbs than 200 mbs . The first router acts as the base station and I hooked the first Tenda 8-port gigabit switch into that to feed my printer, Vonage phone box and an Ethernet cable that runs up to the second floor of my house. I put the second Tenda 8-port gigabit switch where the Ethernet cable comes into my wife’s office. This gives her a direct Ethernet cable link and her computer now scores a 200 mbs speed. I also ran more Ethernet cables to our MBR that has another gigabit switch that feeds a mini computer, our Comcast Flex box and the second Mesh router. This gives us both wired and WiFi signals at 200 mbs. A third Ethernet cable runs to my son’s bedroom and the third Mesh router. This gives us the same internet speed everywhere in our house and is much better than using the 3 mesh routers by themselves. Go into your router settings and make sure that the extra routers are connecting via Ethernet and not WiFi. This was a relatively cheap way to increase the speed throughout our house by just daisy chaining these switches into our network. It also increased the number of wired connections that we have in each room. It should also future proof us up to 1000 mbs going forward. I’m very happy with my purchases.

I got this mainly for switching off a physical line for a net appliance the handles VPN security for a work setup. The device only properly handles one line out, but can handle a mini subnet of things. (In my case, a couple of computers, a SIP phone, and a few IoT devices that all prefer to live on the company network, as they’re configured for work.) This handles that expansion perfectly and allows good throughput between the local devices as needed and allowing them to all be on the company LAN and seen work systems they need to for proper setup and guidance. The throughput machine to machine is solidly gigabit, so it’s handling the IO speed as well as switching, as the VPN box doesn’t light up when cross chatter is happening. Proper isolation of traffic, at speed, is the only thing one can ask from a device of this size. The low price is an unexpected bonus.
